The European Honey Bee (Apis Mellifera) will be the focus of this site, although we may occasionally discuss other types of insects often confused with honeybees. In this area, the three biggest misidentifications turn out to be Yellow Jackets, Hornets and Wasps.
I focus on maintaining my apiary as well as coordinating the apiary at the Jackson Dahlem Nature Center. Depending on winter survival rates, I will often have a limited amount of 5 frame nucleus hives for sale in the spring. These nucleus hives will be on medium, small cell 4.9mm frames and will contain a laying queen, at least two frames of brood and two to three frames of food.
