About Ole Bearz Bees

This site an accounting of my journey through the world of beekeeping. I make mistakes, but try to learn from each one. I don’t put myself out there as a authority on bees, but I’m happy to share anything I know to help others who are interested in helping bees. I usually do most of the beekeeping myself, but do have help from family, and friends, on occasion. I am constantly building my knowledge base, library and equipment. I do not use chemicals on any of my crops, or in my bee hives, My main focus includes honey bee swarm catching, hive maintenance, cut-out/removals, nuc production, education/mentoring and honey sales.

Ole Bearz Bees

Our company is a very small operation. We all work well together and work hard to do the very best we can for both the bees, as well as our customers. We pride ourselves on our customer service, prompt personal attention and quality of our work. Our goal is doing everything we can to keep our bees alive, while also allowing nature take care of the stock which is no longer viable. We believe in safety first and strive to be as minimally invasive as possible to both property and bees colonies.

Ole Bearz Beekeeping Philosophy

I have a chemical free beekeeping philosophy. I employ Integrated Pest Management (IPM) components of screened bottom boards, small cell  and/or natural cell frames and requeening to break the varroa cycle. I run all medium 8 frame boxes as I have found standardized equipment to be very functional for use wherever, and whenever, I need it. I maintain Langstroth and Kenyan Top Bar hives currently and have found things I like, and dislike, with both methods. I believe it is important for each beekeeper to utilize the beekeeping strategy which best meets their goals.

Ole Bearz Bees Services

We specialize in swarm catching, cut-outs and removals and education/mentoring sessions but I do sell honey, beeswax and the occasional batch of beebread, lip balm or body bars. I also sell nucleus hives, when available, and they will all be from winter survivor stock. They are all small cell, or natural cell, medium frames, five frames with laying queen, honey, brood and nurse bees. For 2016, I will also have a very limited number of deep frame nuc’s available. The 2016 price for nuc’s is $150.00 each. Please contact me for details via email at olebearzbees@gmail.com

**2016 Spring Nuc’s are SOLD OUT. Please contact me directly if you are in need to a nuc, but not in a hurry as I may have an occasional nuc available.
